Viking dreads: Create natural dreadlocks with a gradient cut
The Viking look - Natural dreadlocks and a layered cut
For the past 4 years, Romain has been following my work on social networks and growing out his hair to go for natural dreadlocks. A fan of Viking series and actor Ragnar Lothbrok, and with a very Nordic physique, Romain wanted to perfect his resemblance to the ethnic Viking by adopting the typical Viking look: dreadlocks and a layered cut.
Romain's pre-creation hair analysis: fine hair tuning and dreadlocks
Romain's patience enabled him to obtain a beautiful length of hair. Long, curly with sufficient thickness on the sides and around the head, I could envisage all kinds of creations. However, the hair on the top of his head was very fine and very short.
Romain wanted a layered cut on the sides and short dreads on the top of his head. My experience made his wish come true! I decided to reuse the lengths of hair cut from the sides to add volume to the less dense part on top. This particular technique means that no strands are wasted, and the volumes are harmonized to achieve the Viking look.
But let's not forget the main theme: the Viking look!
To accentuate this strong look, I suggested decorating her dreads with threads and pearls. My tip for perfecting the look: wear her dreads braided backwards to give the illusion of volume.
These ethnic creations speak to me a lot, and the Viking style always inspires me. So if, like Romain, you have a long face, a rather pointed chin and a full beard, don't hesitate to opt for this style. Contact me for advice if you're still unsure!
