Afro dreadlocks: the importance of regular maintenance

Afro dreadlocks: the importance of regular maintenance

Mariaa, a young singer from Casamance in Senegal, knows the importance of regular maintenance for her afro dreadlocks. Concerned about her look, this beautiful young woman comes regularly to see me for maintenance in order to keep her dreadlocks looking perfect.

Let me first introduce Mariaa Siga:

Singer, composer and musician known in Senegal and West Africa, Mariaa participated in The Voice in 2020. Discover her talent in her song Wama.

I met Mariaa through her man, Stéphane, whose dreadlocks I created a few years ago. Since then, he comes back to see me every three months for the maintenance of his locks. One day Mariaa accompanied Stéphane so that I could give him advice on the maintenance of his afro dreadlocks. Seduced and intrigued by my recommendations, she decided to entrust me with the maintenance of her locks as a test. Since then, she has been coming to see me every three months for the maintenance of her locks.

Since 2001 I have been working with different hair types and qualities to create and maintain dreadlocks. I have an expertise and a certain fondness for afro hair, as a large part of my apprenticeship as a loctician was done in an African hair salon in Stockholm specialising in creating and maintaining dreads.

Maintaining Mariaa's locks is a real blessing. Tightening each dread with a hook from the roots to the tips solidifies the dread along its entire length. My Swedish touch and the dexterity of my hands make this job painless.

Once the locks have been tightened and solidified, I massage a treatment with aloe vera and peppermint into the scalp. This treatment refreshes and moisturises the scalp. In addition, it nourishes and shines the dreadlocks.

Mariaa, who is very concerned about the care of her dreads, has followed my recommendations for hair products to the letter. I advised her to use natural shampoos without detanglers that are perfectly adapted to her hair texture. In addition, I recommended care products to keep her dreads looking good.

I also advise you to do some conditioning four times a year . This will make your locks look better. I also recommend that you do the first maintenance two months after their creation.

To maintain your dreads, I recommend the following products Raw Roots . You can find them on the website Dreadheadshop.
