Natural vs. Synthetic Dreadlocks: Why Switch to Natural? (Transformation & Evolution)
Article updated in March 2026
Natural dreadlocks vs. synthetic dreadlocks… Spring often brings a desire for renewal… For a return to something more authentic, more vibrant. After wearing synthetic dreadlocks for a while, she felt this need for a change.
Not just in appearance… but in how it feels, in the texture, in how it evolves. Switching to natural dreadlocks is a choice. A choice of freedom, comfort… and movement.
Why switch from synthetic dreadlocks to natural dreadlocks?
Synthetic dreadlocks can be a good starting point for a new look. But they lack flexibility. The material is plastic, the appearance changes very little, and the options are limited.
On the other hand, natural dreadlocks are alive. They evolve over time, develop a patina, and change.
It is this evolving aspect that makes all the difference.

The Shift: From Synthetic to Natural
For this transformation, I removed the existing synthetic dreadlocks to create an entirely natural base.
I worked with natural hair extensions, blending several shades of blonde to create a luminous and harmonious look.
Each hairpiece has been meticulously designed to adapt over time while allowing for versatile styling.

Locks that are dynamic, adaptable, and unrestricted
Today, her dreadlocks are no longer static. They’re alive, they move, they evolve. They adapt to her, to her style, to her desires. And above all… they tell a story.
And you… do you also feel the urge to switch to something more natural?
